Day 16: IF
Two more convicting IFs to me from Amy Carmichael today:
IF I can easily discuss the shortcomings and the sins of any; if I can speak in a casual way even of a child’s misdoings, then I know nothing of Calvary love.
IF I find myself half-carelessly taking lapses for granted, “Oh, that’s what they always do,” “Oh, of course she talks like that, he acts like that,” then I know nothing of Calvary love.
I have sinned in both of these areas over the past week. Lord, teach me of Your love… This is my never-ending prayer.
What Happened Today:
Today is our family day off. I went to the pool this morning with the children while David worked on getting the papers together for renewing our Togo visas. We met the Emerson, Miller, and Kennell families there. This afternoon we went to get visa pictures taken and I went up to SIL to finalize reservations for our prayer day this Thursday. This evening Revokataa and her son Ebenezer came into town to eat dinner with us and spend the night so that they could get up early and make it to the hospital before too much of the morning had passed. He needs more work done on his teeth. Elijah made up the bed and tidied up the guest room nicely for them.
Today’s Menu:
breakfast: omelets
lunch: pasta with marinara sauce
dinner: boiled yams, African red sauce, sautéed green beans, pineapple, lemonade
Well- those two “if” statements really hit me between the eyes… not any evil intent, even, but casualness about another’s problems… good reminder.
Elijah has such a servant heart. I think he will be a great servant in the kingdom someday.
Hope the little boy’s teeth get ok.
Love you-
