Togo Memory #7 Guests in our Home
We have been blessed to offer hospitality to many in our home during our years here in Togo. I have no record of the many people we have had in our home for a meal or just for the day, but we did keep a guest book from 2004-2009 for those who stayed overnight in our guest room. I’ll try to remember our overnight guests before those years (I’m a little unsure of 2002-2004 especially) and over this past year and record them here, too.

I have loved visiting and hearing the stories and getting to know all of the guests we have had in our home over the past decade. It has been a part of our life and ministry that has proven to be a very sweet blessing indeed!
Becky, I’m thinking that I stayed with you sometime in the summer of 2001…did Dave go on survey with the interns? I seem to remember your calling me and inviting me up for a few days while Dave was gone but I don’t remember anything specific from that trip except maybe that you made me broccoli-cheese soup (I still have the recipe written on a card). I also came up right before I left maybe in November ’01 but I think I stayed with the Ries” or Millers’…
Becky- You all have shown great hospitality to so many (4 times to me!) over the last 10 years. Seems like you also kept the little kids from down the road that were found abandoned and abused for a few days also.. maybe not in the guest quarters though.

I have a lot of great memories from my trip to see you, but that one is sticking out in my mind today.
I remember watching Dave put popcorn kernels in the oven, trying desperately to kill the sugar ants that were crawling through the kernels. We had just bought the kernels at the market and we were sitting down to watch Alias on DVD and I was eating Tampico. Dave kept turning the oven hotter and hotter because the ants were pretty hearty! After he killed them, he separated the kernels from the dead little ants and still made the popcorn and we ate it. Then, that night, I remember going to bed and spraying bug spray on the walls around my bed to keep those little ants away….and woke up to a line of them crawling around the bed, but nowhere near me.
Hey Becky, I’m just now reading some of these posts. So great to hear and I know it’s good processing for you too. Don’t forget the Jones family! I think that was March 2004. THanks for posting. Makes me want to go through our guestbooks too.
